2013 really greeted us with some an amazing kpop songs that made us dance, cry, or laugh and just have fun. I had a fun time making this list so I hope you guys enjoy! And comment YOUR favorite kpop songs of 2013!
25. Koyote's "Hollywood"
This song was one of those songs that I played for the longest time and it's still on my iPod till this day. It's so much fun and the music video is absolute perfection. Because seriously, older Korean guys that are still handsome that I dressed in super hero costumes fighting over Marilyn Monroe isn't fun. I wish this song would've gotten more attention because seriously it's so amazing.
24. Ladies Code's "Pretty Pretty"
Still hard to believe that Ladies Code only debuted in 2013. Wow last year was their year as a rookie group and they really took the fan boys by storm hah. Even Kpop Star 3 contestant Heejun said that his favorite kpop girl group is Ladies Code. "Pretty Pretty" is another one of those fun songs that you can dance to and it's kind of a girl anthem because it's say that we're all pretty and we've always been pretty.
23. NU'EST's "Hello"
This is actually my best friend and I's song. Last year we would sing this song while walking down the hallway and people would stare at us, but we didn't care ha. This song is so beautiful and I love Aron's part not only because it's silly but because I can sing along to it lol. This is probably my favorite song from NU'EST.
22. Block B's "Very Good"
Block B really scared me because I was afraid that they were going to be gone forever after the whole thing with Stardom. But they came back with a new company and I new style, that was their own style, and stole my heart. Before 2013, Block B wasn't really on my radar as of my favorite groups but this year. I'm done with them. They're my fourth favorite boy group I love them so much ughhh.
"Very Good" was my jam. WOOOO.
21. IU's "The Red Shoes"
IU had a rough 2012, so to see her comeback in 2013 as confident as ever made me fall in love with her all over again. I really do think she's an amazing person, and to this day I don't think she actually did anything wrong. She made a great album and I great song for her fans, that's who she really cares about. And THAT'S why I love IU.
20. Girl's Day's "Expect"
2013 was the year of Girl's Day tbh. Everyone was going crazy over them, even EXO. Hyeri dated the super star Tony Ahn which got her a lot of attention and then they broke up... Sojin was writing songs. Minah was making people laugh. And Yura was stealing hearts. "Expect" surprised us all, because of the sexy concept, but now I think it really fits them and they should keep it forever.
19. Nine Muses' "Wild"
Nine Muses blew up 2013. They captured my heart in 2013 and gaining such a big fandom and I'm so proud of them. Out of their four releases, "Wild" was defiantly my favorite because I learned to tell them a part. Plus it's one of my favorite songs so of course I'd have to put it on here. They are looked so amazing in this concept, especially Kyungri. I'm so proud of them.
18. VIXX's "Hyde"
VIXX is another group I fell for this year. I still remember when they debuted back in 2012 and I was like "Who's VIXX?" and I couldn't tell them a part and it frustrated me and I didn't like "Super Hero" at first, now they're my fifth favorite boy group and I'm waiting for my Voodoo album to come lol. Seriously I can't even deal with them anymore, everything they does impresses me c:
17. T.O.P's "Doom Dada"
I love who ever crafted this song, because this song is a piece of art. A lot of people didn't like it for some reason, but I did. It's easy for me to like rap songs I guess, even though T.O.P is not even my bias. I love this song so much.
16. CL's "The Baddest Female"
CL is my inspiration, even though Bom's my bias. This song is my anthem because seriously my 2014 new year's resolution is to be a gizibe like CL, Lee Hyori, and Yoon Mirae and live my life freely not giving a fuck about anyone else. "The Baddest Female" wasn't my cup of tea at first but soon became on of my favorites songs of all of 2013.
15. Girls' Generation's "I Got A Boy"
Girls' Generation is not only my bias group, sorry, but a great artist. This music video will never get old for me. Neither will this song, even though it's a bit odd. Just remember, all you haters, that Girls' Generation won music video of the year at the YouTube Music Awards, beating a lot of American mainstream artists. The power of this group is amazing.
14. Trouble Maker's "Now"
Trouble Maker made their big return in 2013, taking so many risks. They seemed to get a lot closer and had a ton more skinship although they had a lot last time as well. Most people want them to date anyways so why not? To be honest, I liked "Now" more than "Trouble Maker" even if it didn't have that signature feel. Hyuna's hair this whole comeback was amazing, I felt. Although she looked high on crack in most the the performances lol.
13. 2NE1's "Do You Love Me"
2NE1 released single after single after single in 2013, but where there album at? Huh YG? Seriously.... "Do You Love Me" was my JAM. I played it for the longest time and my mom would sing it sometimes and seriously it was like my anthem in August with EXO's "Growl". Omg. The 2NE1 ladies made me fall in love with them again, although I still would have loved them anyways. I'm proud of them... But I want an album YG.
12. B.A.P's "One Shot"
B.A.P works themselves too hard, but "One Shot" was the best MV in 2013. It was absolutely amazing. When it came out I didn't watch it right away because I wanted to watch it at school with my best friend because B.A.P is her bias group. So her and I sat in a corner and watched it and cried and then went the whole day talking about when Himchan died and ugh. It was very emotional.
11. AOA's "Confused"
We waited way too long for an AOA comeback, and now we have one coming up. I'm proud of these girls too, because they only just debuted in 2012, but a lot of people already know them. When "Confused" come out, the lyrics were exactly how I was feeling, and I loved this song so much.
10. Lee Hi's "Rose"
Lee Hi made a big appearance in the kpop industry in 2013. People preferred her over the actual winner of Kpop Star 1 and it was amazing. She's so gorgeous and with that unique voice of her and her circle lenses she really pulls off the look of a perfect kpop singer. "Rose" was an amazing song and everyone fell in love with it.
9. Brown Eyed Girls' "Kill Bill"
When "Kill Bill" came out, I was amazed. I sat staring at the screen after watching the MV amazed because it made me realize how much I loved them. They are all so sexy, hilarious, and professional. It was unbelievable to think that JeA is 30. I'm so excited to see everything they have to come since they've been in the game for such a long time. I love them c:
8. Lee Hyori's "Miss Korea"
Lee Hyori made her big return in 2013... My queen came back. Lee Hyori is absolutly my favorite solo singer in the history of the world and she's the baddest girl ever. Her SBS Gayo Daejun performances pretty much proved that. She's absolutly amazing and had a great year. She made her comeback and helped SPICA with theirs. Plus she got MARRIED! I love Hyori-ah.
7. Sunmi's "24 Hours"
Sunmi came back for the first time since leaving the Wonder Girls and swept the charts. Everyone fell for her and all the boy groups were trying to do her dance. I even learned the chorus just to be like everyone else. Things like that only come every once in awhile so it was nice to see it was happening to Sunmi, FOR HER SOLO DEBUT. Everyone is know looking to see what she is going to do next.
6. Henry's "Trap"
"Trap" is possibly the best song that SM has ever produced. It's beautifully written and it sounds like something you would hear on the radio in the States. It came out on the last day of school and it was a great way to end the school year. Henry is one of ults and it was the best thing ever for him to have a solo.
5. Drunken Tiger's "The Cure"
I play this song in my yearbook class and I've gotten everyone to like it even though they don't like kpop. this song is really special to all of us after i tell them what the song is about. I really appreciate this song. This song has gotten me through a lot of bad things in my life and it gives me a lot of strength. It is one of my favorite songs in the world.
4. 2NE1's "Missing You"
This song is my second favorite song from them, after "Lonely". It's beautiful. Everything is amazing about this song. I wish CL would've kept her hair black because I thought it was fabulous and it really grew on me. This MV was the perfect representation of Dara ever in a MV. I love everything. I know all the words to this perfection ugh.
3. SHINee's "Everybody"
SHINee's 2013 was so busy they deserve an award. They did very well this year, I'm so proud of my boys. This was my favorite song that they promoted. I don't really know what else to say about them except the fact that everyone knows that they worked extra hard.
2. G-Dragon's "Crooked"
G-Dragon always has a good year, doesn't he? He released yet another great album, which I think is better than One Of A Kind. Hard to believe that he is only 25 years old. He IS the king of kpop, don't you ever forget that. Everything he does is perfect.
1. EXO's "Growl"
EXO gained the most popularity this year. Last year if I asked my Korean friends if they knew EXO they would say no, but if I asked them now they would say "OMG KAI AND CHEN AND CHANYEOL...." ok. "Growl" is an amazing song and you can't deny that. Just because I'm an EXO stan doesn't justify that. They really grew a lot as an artist.
