June was filled with a lot of great releases. I can't believe it's already over tbh... Scarier the faster summer goes, the closer I am to going to high school. That's scary to me ;-;
A lot of boy groups came back in June so let's review the amazing month of June 2014.
20. "Where Are You? What Are You Doing?" by B.A.P
19. "Thank You" by 4Minute
18. "Nice Body" by Hyomin (ft. Loco)
17. "Breathe" by ZE:A
16. "Psycho" by HISTORY
15. Crush's "Hug Me" (ft. Gaeko)
It still amazes me that Crush is a rookie. Yes, a rookie. His voice is so amazing like how the hell does someone sound as good as him. His debut album is so great, if you haven't listened to it, I'm warning you that it's very sexual and amazing and it will make you fall in love with him. Although I liked "Sometimes" better than "Hug Me"... You still got to see Crush's dance moves and he got pretty high on the charts for music shows. I'm extremely proud of him and can't wait to see what he puts out in the future.
14. Jung Joon Young's "Teenager"
Although this MV had the potential to be 10x better than it was, his voice makes up for it. My friend Jane really loves Jung Joon Young and I didn't know who he was back in January. I was surprised that I didn't know who he was because I usually gravitate toward people like him. Jung Joon Young has something I've ever seen in any other male singer in Korea and it's kind of wonderful to know he exists. This is an amazing song about how growing up sucks, and also Jung Joon Young's love for rock.
13. Topp Dogg's "TopDog"
It's amazing to watch Topp Dogg grow since their debut and every release just keeps getting better (maybe besides "Open The Door" bc I hated that song oops). They are starting to really have an international following and I'm excited to see where they go in the future. This song was very creative and I'm hoping that Stardom won't screw them over in the future. Overall this concept was great and it's a great song.
Bias: Hansol & P-Goon
12. TAHITI's "Oppa Is Mine"
I've been a fan of TAHITI since there debut back two years ago. It's crazy that they've gotten this far with all those damn member changes. Tbh, this is my favorite line up they've had and I hope they keep it. I've fallen in love with each of these members, even the new member Jerry whom I think is extremely gorgeous and talented. This is also one of their best songs and MV because it looks natural and they look HAPPY. Wow, what a surprise because if you watch their "Pretty Face" MV from 2012 it will make you cry because they worked these girls so freaking hard. Plus this MV is starring 2AM's Jinwoon ok. Anyways, they have a lot of potential and I'M proud of them.
11. Cross Gene's "Amazing -Bad Lady-"
I'm not the only one who feels like they were wasted right? I'm beyond pissed that they waited to comeback as long as they did. Because other groups that debuted the same year as them and were just as popular, e.x. B.A.P, EXO, VIXX, BtoB, are no longer considered rookies, but Cross Gene still is. Plus, J.G left the group. So although this song was really great and catchy, the live performance DID NOT sound like the official versions. I'm disappointed and this song is only up this high because I liked it and the dance.
10. U-KISS's "Quit Playing"
So this post may be extremely biased because I am a Kissme. I actually hella love this concept. It didn't bother me at all to see my ideal type Eli underneath a girl in her underwear (ok that's a lie). But seriously, it's nice to see U-KISS with a dirtier concept. It shows that they've grown up and their men now, having threesomes and what not. I'm completely in love with Jun, the new member, and I accepted him with open arms, but I do feel bad that he's like 16 or 17 and he came into a group were his first concept was SEX. Anyways, I can't wait for AJ to come back from college and I will continue to play this song for 1000000 more years because yes.
Bias: Eli Kim aka my ideal type and yes
9. AOA's "Short Hair"
I love AOA so much. For me, all their songs are great and they have a lot of fans in Korea and I've just been on this journey with them since the beginning and can't believe how far they've come. I love the concept becuase each member got to have their own personal concept. Let's review. Choa is the spunky blonde haired hair stylist who has had short hair all of 2014. Chanmi is the mechanic that's in it for the looks and the short shorts. Hyejeong is the pretty flight attendant that everyone on the plane want to get with. Seolhyun is the cheerleader, enough said. Yuna is the secretary at your mom's work place. Jimin is a sexy cop that doesn't get her job done. And lastly is Mina, the ice cream shop worker who is probably gonna get fired.
8. K.Will's "Day 1"
K.Will never fails to release good music. His music videos are always entertaining and he always knows the right people to star in them. I especially like "Day 1" though because the lyrics are so catchy. "I might be be ugly, but I'm the most handsome of the ugly guys." he's so adorable and if you watch his #hashtag interview on 1theK, you'll see why everyone is in love with him. If you were wondering this MV stars Park Min Woo and SISTAR's Soyou.
7. GOT7's "A"
I'm not exactly one of those girls that fell for GOT7 immediately after debut. Don't get me wrong, "Girls Girls Girls" was totally my jam and I'm defiantly played the hell out of it, but I hadn't fallen in love with the group yet except for JB and JR because of JJ Project. But let me tell you something, this first comeback of theirs, it drew me in. I'm scared because all I do recently is sing Mark's part in this song and go on tumblr and stay on the "Markson" tag for like three hours. I also totally fell in love with Youngjae and Yugyeom with this concept. This IS Youngjae's concept and it fits him absolutly perfectly. I love that they just look like regular boys and not idols. c:
Bias: JB & BamBam
6. MAMAMOO's "Mr. Ambiguous"
This is MAMAMOO's debut? Did I hear that right? You're kidding? If I showed any one of their live performances to a kpop fan that didn't know them, they would have thought they were really popular and had been around for many years. The stage presence and the vocal ability that these four ladies have is absolutly amazing. And obviously a lot of idols knew that this would be a successful group because some big name people were in their MV. People like CN Blue's Jonghyun and Jung Joon Young and K.Will and Baek Ji Young. Bumkey even featured in one of their songs that I talked about earlier this year. I can't wait to watch them rocket off into stardom in the next few years.
5. Boyfriend's "Obsession" & "Alarm"
I've been watching Boyfriend grow since 2011 and I'm so proud of them. 2014 has been a big year for them. They had their first U.S. concerts in Chicago and Texas. Although I wasn't able to go after all, one of my close friends did and she said they were so very nice and she actually started coughing while she met them (bc she had VIP passes) and Youngmin asked if she was all right. This comeback is probably my favorite they've had, even though I totally loved "Janus". This concept works really well for them. I also really love the "Alarm" MV because it's shot in Chicago, and I live close to Chicago. Also, I can't only be the only one who laughs at the "Obsession" MV right, because come on. Donghyun turns into a pirate at the end LOL.
4. Jun.K's "No Love"
At first listen I was like, oh this is a nice song, and then after about the 4th listen I was like, omg I absolutly love this song. Jun.K has a really nice voice and I love how the MV totally fit him and even had little things for the fans like the panda which is like his nickname or whatever. I'm not a Hottest, so I don't know exactly. It's always nice when idols get to have solo promotions because it lets you see them in what they're absolutly comfortable with. This song is definitely overplayed in my house, and I'm completely ok with that.
3. San E & Raina's "A Midsummer Night's Sweetness"
2014, the year of duets. Soyou & Junggigo. Key & Woohyun. Mad Clown & Hyorin. And now San E & After School's Raina. Tbh, I didn't think this song would be all that special when I heard that is was coming out. But when I heard, I was so surprised. This song has really taught me to appreciate Raina's voice, because wow I didn't know that was in there. It is one of the most played songs on my iTunes I think from this whole year. San E's rap is so smooth and wow, I never appreciated his craft either. The lyrics to this song are so clever and the live stages were so entertaining plus they used Seventeen's Wonwoo and Mingyu and the guy dancer. ohoho (Bias group feels man)
2. Taeyang's "Eyes, Nose, Lips" & "1AM"
Taeyang's "Eyes, Nose, Lips" might as well be THE song of the year. Along with the release of "Rise", his album after many years, came so many covers and renditions of "Eyes, Nose, Lips" its unbelievable. How many weeks has his album been number one on the charts? I have no idea. The fact that he's been promoting since the beginning of June and he's still competing for number 1 is pretty impressive, but we must remember that he is Taeyang and he's a member of the biggest boy group in Korea atm BIGBANG. Even though Daesung is my BIGBANG bias, Taeyang is definitely up there trying to take his place which annoys me a lot.
1. B2ST's "Good Luck"
The main reason this is number one is because it's my favorite comeback song this year. Yes, yes, I'm a SONE and an EXOtic, but this song is just freaking amazing. It sounds like old kpop to me. The kpop I fell in love with back in 2011, not the overly dubstep shit we have been hearing lately, and I can only put up with that for so long. This is a song I can hear myself listening to for a long time and that's why I love it so much. B2ST is such an amazing group. "Good Luck" is probably the best B2ST song after "Fiction" tbh.
