I couldn't just pick 15 songs for this month, so here's a special 20 song edition of my month recaps oooo
20. MFBTY's "Bang Diggy Bang Bang"
Meaning: This song is all about being yourself and dancing to the rhythm not caring what anyone thinks of you. I'll do me, and you do you.
Review: My family always laughs at this song, mostly because it is so abstract, but I look up to Yoon Mi Rae so much that there's nothing she could do that I would be upset with. Mirae is such a good person and so are Tiger JK and Bizzy. I really love them together and I'm so happy they continue to make great, inspiring song like this.
19. Laboum's "Sugar Sugar"
Meaning: This song is about a girl who doesn't usually show her true feelings to the guys she's interested in. Then she meets a boy who's not even has cute as Kang Dong Won, Kim Soo Hyun, or Lee Min Ho, but for some reason she really likes him. So she keeps pushing him away, but can't seem to forget about him.
Review: At first, I was like eh. But I don't know, after about 5 listens I knew all the words and I was doing aegyo in front of my mom singing this and just jamming because I actually really love Laboum. I think they're all gorgeous and amazing. Oh and Soyeon KILLED me in this MV, she looked hot af.
18. Zion.T's "Zero Gravity"
Meaning: This song is about knowing that someone you're in a relationship with is not happy with their life. You don't know how to understand them, all you know is that you both are each other's only source of happiness. Time stops when you are together and it feels like there is no gravity holding you down.
Review: I think that this is one of his most meaningful, beautiful songs. All of his song usually have great meanings, but this one is really so simple, and the fact that he could get lyrics like that in there? I don't know he's a genius man.
17. Minah's "I Am A Woman Too"
Meaning: This song is about a woman that just broke up with her boyfriend, and she regrets it. She really hurt him, but she also hurt herself. She saying that she is just a woman, but a woman who is not strong enough to stand up for herself right now. She cannot move on from him and she keeps saying that she is still in love with him. Some of this makes it feel like maybe there is a deeper meaning, like maybe he was an abusive boyfriend or something. That's why she had to end the relationship, but she still really loves him. But in the end he only ended up making her feel like less of a woman.
Review: I think that this was the perfect song for Minah to have for her solo debut. Minah is my Girl's Day bias btw. The MV is kind of junky, but I think it needed to be to go along with the song meaning. Minah did a good job with this, also I think she's really happy right now. Like if you look at recent pictures of her (:
16. FIESTAR's "You're Pitiful"
Meaning: This song is about a girl who still had a broken heart after her boyfriend had left her a few months ago. Then she sees her ex-boyfriend out in public and he is begging for her to come back to him. She then laughs at him and tells him how pitiful he is and how she feels bad for him. She is now healed and doesn't want him anymore and is able to move on from this loser of a guy.
Review: I think it's a cool concept and I like that they're staying with the sexy concepts because I think it fits them quite well tbh (ESPECIALLY CAOLU HELLO). This song also got them a lot of recognition, so I'm proud of them for that.
15. Eric Nam's "I'm OK"
Meaning: This song is about a man who's looking back on his last relationship and reminiscing about the good times they had together. He no longer has any feelings for that girl and is now OK and can move on.
Review: Eric's vocals are literally bae. He is so dreamy and ideal and ugh. My ideal type is someone like Eric Nam mixed with like Beenzino or Jay Park oh good lord I can't even. I think that it's kind of a weird thing to sing about, but you know WHATEVER.
14. Crayon Pop's "FM"
Meaning: These lyrics really don't mean anything, but I think what they're trying to get at is that they'll make you fall in love with them ?????????
Review: This song is so fun and catchy and the MV is so cheesy and entertaining and Crayon Pop can't really disappoint. Not surprised that the lyrics are utter shit because all Crayon Pop lyrics are usually utter shit but it's okay because the song is really fun and catchy even though none of it makes sense !!!! Plus Ellin with purple in her hair will be the death of me.
13. NS Yoon-G's "Wifey" (ft. MC Mong)
Meaning: This song is about a woman who is showing off all of her wife qualities to the man she loves. She is talking about taking away his stress and being there for him as his best friend. He then responds to her with saying that she looks better in sweats then a mini skirt and relays his feelings for wanting her to be his wifey.
Review: This song is so fun and sweet. I love Yoonji, she never fails me and I missed her since "Yasisi" and this sounds more like her than "Yasisi" did. Thank God for NS Yoon-G saving my life once again.
12. Donghae & Eunhyuk's "Growing Pains"
Meaning: This song is about a man who is hoping that his ex is not hurting as much as he is after their breakup. He tries to find old memories of them together, but it seems that he has forgotten all the good times ever since he left her.
Review: THIS IS THEIR BEST SONG. SO SO SO SO SO SO GOOD. Donghae's vocals are the best they've ever been and Eunhyuk's dancing was on POINT. I'm beyond proud of them and I love them so much. Good job SM for not giving them a shitty MV too. Oml. SM has been doing good to us lately.....
11. Lovelyz's "Hi~"
Meaning: This is a song about a girl who's liked a guy for a VERY long time and it really bothers her that he has no idea. She makes up a plan to ask him if they can hang out, so she can confess her feelings. They talk about not caring what his feelings are, they just need to get it off their chest. In the end she tells him that she in love with him, and she says it with confidence.
Review: I really needed this song. If I had to chose a theme song for March 2015, this would be it. Considering I confessed to someone I've had feelings for, for a long time, I can really relate to this song. Plus they're so pretty and I really love all their personalities.
10. miss A's "Only You"
Meaning: This song is about a girl who just met a new guy and she really wants to start dating him. She's never had this feeling before and she talks about how she and him are different from everyone else in the world and she only wants him for a untypical love.
Review: I think that this song took a few listens for me to fall in love with. It's so different from miss A's other songs I'm not sure how I feel. All I think of is Lee Min Ho (lol). BUT THEY ALL LOOKED HOT AF IN THIS AND YES. And Suzy is just as beautiful as ever, I missed my baby baby baby.
9. Shannon Williams' "Why Why"
Meaning: This song is about Shannon's struggle with liking a boy in Korea. She talks about how she is worried that this boy will not like her back because she is not full Korean. She sings about how she will do anything for this boy and go anywhere for him. She really loves him, but she is afraid to confess her love. "It's on my mind every night since I am a foreigner. I don't know if I'm the mirror or if the mirror is me?"
Review: THIS SONG IS SO GOOD BECAUSE I CAN RELATE 100% TO IT. I live in a heavily populated Asian area and there are a lot of Koreans here. In the past, I have liked Korean boys but I always get afraid to confess to them because I don't know how they'd react. I think Shannon is so strong to be a kpop singer (LET ALONE A SOLO SINGER) and sing a song about a struggle like this. Plus the MV will make you fall in love with her, she's an amazing girl.
8. Boyfriend's "Bounce"
Meaning: This song is about a boy saying ayo girl I know you're totally into me so just come with me and we can bounce somewhere lol (good description Morgan). He's telling her to follow her heart and just go with him.
Review: This song is hella addictive and they all looked good and I really liked the Alice in Wonderland theme. I'm sad that their theme comebacks are over now ;-;
7. Rap Monster's "P.D.D (Please Don't Die)" (ft. Warren G)
Meaning: "Please don't die before I shoot you." This song is about how Rap Monster grows every time a hater says something about him. It's basically a diss track to all his haters.
Review: I stan Rap Monster, so it was easy for me to fall in love with this song and his whole mixtape because I love him. I would have added the other songs from his mixtape except there are SO many music videos and this was the one most people were talking about. Although "Do You" was actually my favorite song and MV that he released. I liked how he used a common theme of being an idol throughout his mixtape, "Fuck you I'm an idol, yeah yeah I'm an idol." That title doesn't define him, also he likes the title and embraces it. I love Kim Namjoon.
6. CLC's "Pepe"
Meaning: This song is about a scum bag guy that keeps trying to get your attention. And your like nuh uh I know you're lying to me and you're crazy and your acting is amazing. All guys are the same, they only want a girl for their own desires.
Review: I think this is such a strong debut song, like the fact that they are only a rookie group, it's crazy to think that way. CLC, I can see them around for a long time and being a top idol group in the future. I look forward to seeing more from them, and who will be the star of the group oooo
Bias: Seungyeon (SHES SO HOT IM)
5. EXO's "Call Me Baby"
Meaning: This song is about a boy who has fallen in love with a girl who is just the brightest thing in his world. He always is thinking and talking about her. He is telling her to call him baby and be there for him because she has changed his life and made him reborn again.
Review: This whole album is so great, I still like XOXO better, but this is up there man. EXO, whether you'd like to admit it or not, they make damn good music. They're musicians and I'm proud of them for coming back so strong even after loosing Kris and Luhan. I love them so much, and I'm happy they're back.
4. Junsu's "Flower" (ft. Tablo)
Meaning: This is all about Junsu's personal struggle with depression and feeling suicidal. It's hard to explain the song if you don't know what he's been through and the fact that Tablo's also on the track, like you have to know their stories to understand the song. And it's hard to explain.
Review: I think Junsu is such a wonderful man that he isn't afraid to release such abstract amazing music like this. I really needed this song too this month as it is the cold ass month of March and I always fall back into depression at this time. I just love this man so much.
3. Giriboy's "Take Care of You" & "Back And Forth 30 Min" (ft. Shin Ji Su)
TAKE CARE OF YOU
Meaning: This song, wait be cautious it might make you cry, is about a boy who's in love with a prostitute. He's been in love with her for such a long time and she has major body issues and she sleeps around as her job. He just wants to protect her and every time she cries, he wants to beat up the guys that she's slept with. It's a really powerful song and message.
BACK AND FORTH 30 MIN
Meaning: This song is about being in a relationship that you're not even sure if it's a relationship or not. He says that it only takes 30 minutes to get to her, but he doesn't even know if it's okay to go see her. He can't figure out how she feels or even if they're dating at all. They're always texting, but never talking in real life. He can't figure out if he's been imagining their relationship or not.
Review: The first song makes me cry, I wrote an English version to it (not the same story). And this month has been the second song. It's my life and I can't even begin to describe how accurate "Back And Forth 30 Min" is to my life.
2. Red Velvet's "Automatic" & "Ice Cream Cake"
Meaning: This song is about woman thanking her man for always taking care of her. It's automatic how he always protects her and take care of her and everything about their relationship is beautiful to her.
ICE CREAM CAKE
Meaning: This song is about going out on a hot day and seeing this really cute boy and you're like come over here you can kick it with me (lol). So the whole song is about how their irresistible and they're gonna steal this boy's heart.
Review: I think this whole comeback and concept was genius and once again, good job on SM's part. It's launched these girls to stardom, welcome to the big leagues ladies. They just one their sixth music show win today with this song? I'm proud of these ladies.
1. Gain's "Paradise Lost" & "Apple" (ft. Jay Park)
Meaning: There could be a million ways to explain these lyrics. I'm pretty sure this song has something to do with Adam and Eve. But in the beginning of the music video it says "TWO WOMEN. GUILTY." So maybe it's about lesbians and people saying that homosexuality is wrong because it's not like Adam and Eve. You can also see the lyrics as about straight up sex, not necessarily between a certain type of people. I also read the lyrics as maybe she's talking about how people are jealous of her happiness (or paradise) and that's why they're making up stories about her. But anyway you see them, it's a masterpiece.
Meaning: Lmao, bare with me because this is about to be a really awkward explanation. It's about sex. SEX. It's about a girl who really wants to have sex with her boyfriend, but wherever they are it's not an appopriate time and he's telling she's gonna have to wait for it I'M SERIOUS. It's still a good song and it's catchy af
Review: I chose this as my number one because I love "Paradise Lost" so much. I love the mysteriousness of it and I love the dance and UGH HER BLUE HAIR. I'm in love with Gain so idc. Plus I really "Apple" too much JUDGE ME IDGAF
